Dedicated Servers
Pros:
- Complete control of software
- Resources are not shared as they are for shared
hosting
Cons:
- Technical expertise required
- Significantly more expensive than shared
hosting
A dedicated server is a leased server. All of the
hardware and the internet connection is provided by the hosting
compnay as well as maintenance of the hardware. Server administration
is left completely to the customer so technical expertise is required.
Most dedicated server providers offer a web base administration
tool like Plesk or Cpanel as well as shell access. Dedicated providers
usually have managed plans that you can upgrade to if the need arises.
Look into colocated
servers if you need control of the hardware as well as software |
