Some image hosts don't allow 'hotlinks'. Hotlinking occurs when a person wants to use a picture from one location/website on another website. This is often done for auctions on sites like ebay and for avatars on message boards. To use a picture on an auction site you have to put it on a host/server and tell the auction site where it is. The file is then downloaded from the host everytime a person views the auction on the auction site. This can use a lot of bandwidth if the auction or message board doing the linking is populer, and for this reason many webosts do not allow hotlinking. If you want to use an image host for auctions or avatars then make sure the imagehost allows hotlinking.
