Virtual Private Servers ( VPS )
Pros:
- Complete control of software
Cons:
- Technical expertise required
- Resources are shared as they are for shared
hosting
Virtual Private Servers are usually run on large multiprocessor
computers that run many instances of seperate operating systems.
Put simply, a VPS looks to the user like a dedicated server but
it shares resources with other users. This is like one computer
running three different versions of windows at the same time, and
they are all being used by different people. This sounds a lot like
shared hosting but there are some significant differences. The main
difference is that you have complete control over the software on
the server. You can install, remove, or change anything you want.
A VPS provides a good middle ground , with both price and performance,
between shared hosting
and dedicated
servers.
It is a great choice if your needs to not require a lot of processing
power or disk space.
